Bio-Age has also been long running special research and training programs for students in the field of biotechnology and life sciences, giving them a unique experience of working close to a real world industrial environment and its workflow along-with quality teaching, exposure and hands on experiences unlike any other training centre.

Biotech Training

Training programs are adjustable with the specialized techniques* as per the student's requirement.

Biotech Projects

Available for students and pass outs of B.Sc, M.Sc, B.E/B.Tech, M.E/M.Tech Biotechnology and life sciences streams.

2 weeks

A basic training comprising of an overview biotechnology and its brief applications.

Week 1:

  • Microbiological Techniques which includes preparation of media, sterilization, cultivation of yeast, Bacteria/Fungi, cell count etc.

  • Hands on exposure of various instruments under expert guidance.

Week 2:

  • Training on a bioreactor.
  • Ethanol production.

  • Visit to our manufacturing unit of fermentor for real-life exposure.

Report Submission and certificate distribution by a special guest along with a lecture on skill development.

6 weeks

Including aforementioned week 1 to 4.

Week 5:

  • Methods of sugar estimation.

  • Enzyme producing microorganisms isolation

  • Replica plating.

Week 6:

  • Enzyme production by fermentation and its characterization
  • Enzymes assays for various commercially important enzymes calculation of international units of the enzyme activity

  • Practical exposure on HPLC

  • Practical exposure on water purification systems and their types including water testing

  • Microbiological food testing.

Compilation of data, report submission and certificate distribution.

4 weeks

Including aforementioned week 1 and 2.

Week 3:

  • The innate working of a fermentor.

  • Media preparation, sterilization, aseptic culture growth, maintenance, product isolation and characterization.

Week 4:

  • Therory lectures on filtration for Major water contaminants, and
  • Ionic impurities in water purification, and

  • Membrane filtration and their types.

  • Practical exposure on water purification systems and their types including water testing

  • Microbiological food testing.

Report Submission and certificate distribution by a special guest along with a lecture on skill development.

8 weeks

Including aforementioned week 1 to 6.

Week 7:

  • Enzyme production and enzyme kinetics.

  • Kinetic characterization of in house produced enzyme.

Week 8:

  • Effect of variation of parameters, enzyme kinetics.
  • Determination of kinetic parameters including Km and Vmax.

Compilation of data, report submission and certificate distribution.

4 to 6 months

 

  •  To study the process kinetics of ethanol production from com in separate hydrolysis and fermentation.

 

  •  Simultaneous saccharification and fermentation of com to ethanol: Kinetic studies of fermentation process.

 

  •  Ethanol production from sorghum: evaluation of the enzymatic hydrolysis and the fermentation of released sugars.

 

  • Simultaneous saccharification and fermentation of sorghum to ethanol: Kinetic studies of fermentation process.

 

  • To study the process kinetics of ethanol production from wheat in separate hydrolysis and fermentation.

 

  • Simultaneous saccharification and fermentation of wheat for conversion into ethanol: Kinetic studies of fermentation process.

 

  • Ethanol production from potato: evaluation of the enzymatic hydrolysis and fermentation of sugars.
